Two firefighters rescued in Luzerne County
Two firefighters had to be rescued Thursday from the roof of a burning building. The fire broke out at the office of District Magistrate Jim Haggerty's office on Russell Street in Edwardsville around 10am Thursday morning. Former Hazleton hospital to be renovated
A one-time hospital will be getting a new lease on life. The former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hazleton has been vacant and falling apart for nearly 20 years. A real estate developer plans on repurposing the former hospital building with commercial space on the ground floor and assisted living apartments above, along with plans for a daycare, convenience store, beauty salon, maybe a bagel shop, gym, and professional offices, according to OB International Real Estate CEO and Founder Ofra Beigel, who says the project costs are estimated to be about 30 million dollars.
