Although they may be a little harder to find than they used to be, no trip through the Florida Panhandle is complete without making at least one U-turn to stop at a roadside boiled peanut stand. The deep South is known for two nuts in particular, peanuts and pecans, and here in Jackson County, we’re proud to grow both. The holidays just wouldn’t be the same without our beloved pecans!

5 Best Restaurants in Tallahassee, Florida You Need to Try Before Everyone Else Finds Them

Tallahassee, Florida — a city where the oaks drip with Spanish moss and the air hums with the laughter of students, where the red-brick heart of the South beats alongside the rhythm of new arrivals, where every block is stitched with stories and the scent of something simmering. Here, the city’s soul is a patchwork: Seminole pride, Southern hospitality, and the vibrant pulse of a capital that never quite sits still. It’s a place where college kids and lifelong locals share the same sun, where food is both a memory and a promise, and where every meal feels like a homecoming.

Tallahassee favorite Nach'Yo Nachos going to food truck format

Family-owned Nach'Yo Nachos – known for its customizable, topping-loaded nachos – is leaving its Railroad Square storefront in Tallahassee and taking its business on the road. "While we are transitioning away from our storefront, we are NOT closing our doors—we’re moving on up and taking the flavor on the road! We want to send a deep, heartfelt thank you to Railroad Square for providing us with our very first storefront over this past year," an Oct. 26 social media post said. "We have enjoyed every single minute spent in the district, growing with you all and serving our incredible community." Owner/founder Adrian Kershaw and her apprentices introduced their giant, decadent platters of nachos and much more on Oct. 1, 2025. For Kershaw, the business was about more than food. "It was giving my kids the opportunity to open up a business and have their own employment so they didn't have to worry about trying to find a job," she said. With over 30 years of management experience and an admiration for places like Publix Super Markets' customer service model, she knew this would be another way to bring her and kids together. It would provide flexible learning opportunities for other

People Drive Across Florida Just For The Smoked Fish Spread At This Old Shack In Panacea

There’s a fish dip called the Hot Mess, and it blends cobia, tuna, and salmon with candied jalapeno. I’m sorry, but that name alone deserves a road trip. The fish gets smoked right on site over sweet hardwood in an outdoor pit. The smoke drifts toward the road, so your nose finds the place before your GPS does.

Fried Chicken And Homemade Pies Draw Families From All Over Florida To This Old Country Buffet

Fried chicken with a light hand on the breading is the quiet star of this buffet line. I like a kitchen that trusts the chicken to do the talking. The steam table keeps going from there. Ted's Montana Grill closed for holidays this year

Tallahassee diners won’t be able to get a Thanksgiving or Christmas meal at Ted’s Montana Grill this year. The restaurant chain announced Oct. 22 that all of its locations, including the one in Tallahassee, will close on Thanksgiving and Christmas each year to give employees the holidays off. “Thanksgiving has been one of our biggest sales days, but family comes first, and giving our team time with loved ones is one way we show our appreciation,” CEO and co-founder George McKerrow said in a news release. That means Ted’s will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, and Christmas Day, Dec. 25, this year. The local spot is at 1954 Village Green Way, just off Capital Circle Northeast. The chain also plans to host holiday dinners for families facing hardships or who have demonstrated exceptional strength, kindness or generosity. Community members can nominate a family by emailing bigskyspirit@tedsmontanagrill.com by Nov. 11. Nominations should include the family’s story, the nominee’s full name and contact information. Ted’s also announced refreshed employee training focused on steak preparation and customer service. The company says its meals are prepared in-house without microwaves or freezers. Ted’s Montana Grill specializes in American grill fare, including steaks, burgers and
