Indian Canyon Drive was closed through the Whitewater Wash on Wednesday morning as the northwest corner of the Coachella Valley experienced another round of windy weather. As of 8:30 a.m., Gene Autry Trail and Vista Chino remained open through the wash.

The National Weather Service is forecasting winds of 20 to 30 mph, and gusts as high as 40 mph, on Wednesday morning around North Palm Springs, Whitewater and the San Gorgonio Pass. It is expected to remain windy in the pass area until at least Tuesday.

While the strong winds will initially be largely limited to the pass, the rest of the valley is also expected to see some windy weather starting Wednesday evening with winds of 10 to 20 mph and gusts of up to 30 mph expected across the valley.

The heavy winds in areas away from the pass are expected to mostly continue until Monday morning, although with a lull on Friday before the winds resume sometime Saturday in most areas.
