One person dead in Wood County fire despite neighbors efforts, deputies say
WOOD COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A person died in house fire in Wood County Friday night despite the efforts of two neighbors, deputies say. Dispatchers received a call at 8:30 p.m. reporting a structure fire along Dickens Drive in Mineral Wells with a disabled person stuck inside the home, according to a news release from Wood County Sheriff’s Office.

Fog expected overnight after rain
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - The weak low pressure continue to move through the area keeping the chance for isolated to scattered showers around into the early overnight hours. Calm winds and added moisture from the showers today will likely lead to patchy fog overnight so make sure you give yourself a few extra minutes when traveling in the morning. As the sun comes up, the fog will clear out leading to a sunny and relatively seasonable day with highs in the mid 80s. The pleasant weather will continue into Tuesday as high pressure remains overhead. Highs will climb to about 90 degrees on Tuesday so we could see some pop-up thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

First Annual Imagination Gala at Discovery World Saturday
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - The first annual Imagination Gala will be at Discovery World on Market Saturday, June 8th from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This will be the signature fundraiser to raise operational costs for the museum. Executive Director Wendy Shriver said it takes a lot to run the museum so fundraisers like this help to make sure it can continue its day-to-day operations. She said this money will help with programming and outreach, as well.

Discovery World becomes Blue Star Museum, military families get free admission for limited time
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Discovery World on Market has added another title to its list, Blue Star Museum. The Blue Star Museum Program is a partnership, “between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, in collaboration with the Department of Defense and museums across America, offering free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve,” according to Wendy Shrivers, executive director DWOM.
