PODA begins in Downtown Parkersburg next week
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - The city of Parkersburg will be bringing Private Outdoor Designated Area a.k.a. PODA to Downtown Parkersburg. This means that you will now be allowed to drink alcoholic beverages along Market St. but those drinks must be in a designated PODA cup provided by Downtown PKB and the beverage must be given to you by the permitted businesses.

On the 3rd inst. a deer was seen in the vicinity of Elizabeth in Wirt County W. Va. Information came to Dr. S. Bolivar who mounted his horse and went in pursuit. He discovered him coming through a corn field to the river bank, and giving chase ran so close to him that his horse’s feet struck the animal who was disposed to flight. Having no fire arms with him, the Dr. was obliged to go some distance to the house of George Rochhold, where he procured an old musket, and getting back into a barge brought down the game.
Officials confirm tornado struck in Wood County last week
WOOD COUNTY — The National Weather Service in Charleston has confirmed a tornado touched down east of Parkersburg Thursday lasting three minutes between 8:19 and 8:21 p.m. A release from the weather service said the tornado traveled 3.4 miles from North Hills to Belmont, had a maximum width of 250 yards and had a peak wind strength of 90 mph.
