Janesville launches street improvements off Highway 26 to spark Kwik Trip, McCormick Crossing devleopments
JANESVILLE — The city of Janesville is readying for more retail prospects on Milton Avenue, including a new Kwik Trip, by teeing up plans for new street extensions and other public improvements. The City Council will consider a memorandum of understanding between the city and DK Partnership, LLP, for public infrastructure extensions at McCormick Drive and Huntinghorne Drive, according to city meeting documents. The agreement outlines how the infrastructure would be designed, constructed and inspected, with the developer responsible for hiring a licensed civil engineer and city-approved contractors to complete the work. The plans outline the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Mccormick and Huntinghorne drives. The city would review the plans, oversee construction through inspections and accept the improvements as public infrastructure once they meet municipal standards. The developer also would reimburse the city for engineering-related services, and, the city says in the memo, the approval process would not require out-of-pocket municipal spending for the development. “The infrastructure work could help create buildable lots for future commercial and residential projects in the area, which remains largely farmland,” it says within the memo.
