The final event for this year’s Lafayette County Master Gardeners Spring Lecture Series will focus on growing flowers and establishing a cutting garden.

The next lecture will be at noon May 2 in the Lafayette County and Oxford Public Library auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

The guest speaker will be Katherine Webb, owner of Farmstead Floral, a cut-flower farm in Oxford. Farmstead Florals is best known for its self-serve flower stands on the Oxford Square and Ole Miss campus, along with its booths at the local farmers’ markets.

Webb supplies florists and groceries with flowers in north Mississippi, Memphis and Birmingham, and dabbles in floral design. With a true passion for flowers, being outside and enjoying the gratification of working with her hands, she started Farmstead Florals in 2016 on three-fourths of an acre. Spanning the past eight seasons, she has grown the farm to seven acres of production.

She said she prides herself on quality and community and “hopes to continue to raise flowers for many years to come.”
