Bob Jones bests Central-Phenix City in opening game of State Championship
The Bob Jones Patriots took the first game of the 7A State Championship against Central – Phenix City 6-1 on Tuesday in at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. The Patriots turned to their ace pitcher Braden Booth who tossed seven innings where he allowed one run with two hits, a pair of walks with seven strikeouts in the victory.
No. 1 Alexandria rallies to sweep Mobile Christian, claim Class 5A state baseball title
Alexandria coach Zac Welch wasn’t in the dugout when his team won its first state baseball title Tuesday evening. But it didn’t take him long to get to the dogpile. Welch was ejected with his team trailing Mobile Christian 3-1 in the third inning, but the top-ranked Valley Cubs rallied for an 8-4 victory in Game 2 at Jim Case Stadium in Jacksonville to sweep the Class 5A championship series.
