Showers and Storms Friday through Saturday
PANAMA CITY, FL. (WMBB-TV) — Upper level ridging in control for Thursday, but showers will return early tomorrow and continue through the weekend. This evening is looking rather nice. Upper level ridging has moved in and brought that Summer like feel for your Thursday. Highs today reaching into the mid to upper 80s for the coastline and closer to the 90s in our inland locations.
More storms Friday Night into Saturday
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Showers and thunderstorms returned across the Panhandle Friday morning, but today won’t be a total washout. After this morning’s round of storms, expect gradual clearing through the late morning and afternoon hours. Extended periods of dry weather are likely after 10 a.m., with potentially a few peeks of sun during the afternoon too. Showers and storms will continue to our northwest across Mississippi and Alabama throughout the day, with a chance of an isolated storm developing in inland areas in Northwest Florida.

Correctional officer charged for taking money from inmates
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A former correctional officer was arrested for reportedly accepting money from inmates last year. According to an affidavit, between March 2023, and June 2023, Bre’aunna Jarnee Andrews knowingly accepted Cash App payments from inmates or associates of inmates at the state-run Bay Correctional Facility 17 times, totaling $4,454.
