TOPPERS – EASTRIDGE CENTER
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - I want to give a Sunshine Award to Topper’s Pizza in the Eastridge Center. On March 29th, there was a garage fire in Altoona. Employees from the nearest bar decided to call Topper’s and order pizzas for the first responders. Topper’s not only delivered incredibly fast, but also discounted the cost. Thank you, Topper’s, for helping feed a bunch of hungry first responders.

EAU CLAIRE — As the Wisconsin Supreme Court revisits the ban on ballot drop boxes, some voters across Wisconsin are hoping that this method of ballot casting returns. The rally of voters took place on Monday, the same day in which oral arguments were set to begin for the case of Priorities USA v. Wisconsin Elections Commission. The case, pushed by Democrats, seeks to overturn a ruling in July 2022 which said absentee drop boxes may only be installed in election clerk offices, as unsupervised...

EAU CLAIRE — On Monday, the City of Eau Claire, with help from outside contractor Lake and Pond Solutions, treated Half Moon Lake with a herbicide called Endothall with hopes to remove and eradicate curly-leaf pondweed from the lake for good. As the herbicide treatment is not expected to harm any aquatic plants or animals, no restrictions on swimming or fishing in the lake have been placed after the application. The only restriction is a seven-day suspension on usage of the lake water for irrigation. ...

Aiming to give higher education students more opportunities to achieve their dream of obtaining a bachelor’s degree and advance their careers, Northwood Technical College and UW-Eau Claire signed an agreement Thursday in Rice Lake that makes transferring credits easier. The agreement also demonstrates how schools have evolved beyond competing for students and instead are working hand-in-hand to focus on their achievement, which can benefit them economically as well as the community by increasing the number of qualified, educated workers. ...
Sentencing ends 2019 OWI case
EAU CLAIRE — An unusually long-running OWI case wrapped up Thursday with the defendant receiving a prison sentence. Ian Kellman, 54, Hatley, was charged in March of 2018 with his seventh OWI. Schroeder scores 100th career goal as Regis/McDonell closes in on conference title
Regis/McDonell girls soccer crushed Assumption 7-0 Monday in a game between the top two teams in the Mid-Western Wisconsin Conference standings. Senior Annabelle Schroeder finished with four goals and reached the 100-goal milestone for her career with the Saints. Schroeder scored a pair of goals in the first half at the 25th and 26th minutes and also scored the first two goals of the second half in the 46th and 58th minutes. Colleen Callaghan assisted on three of Schroeder’s goals. The Saints now stand at 12-1-1 — the lone loss coming to Division 1 Eau Claire North — on the season and 9-0-0 in conference play. With three conference games remaining, Regis/McDonell now stands five points clear of Assumption, meaning the Saints need just one draw down the stretch to clinch at least a share of the conference title. Any combination of two points would give the Saints the outright title.
