Man charged with domestic violence assault after hours-long standoff in Levant
LEVANT, Maine — A Penobscot County man is facing domestic violence assault charges after an hours-long standoff with law enforcement in Levant. Officials with the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office were called to South Levant Road at around 10 a.m. after the domestic violence situation was reported. Though the assault allegedly took place without a weapon, when deputies arrived, the man refused to cooperate.
Troy woman pleads guilty to theft and fraud charges

Court records say 49-year-old Christie Mitchell lied to the Social Security Administration and Maine DHHS about her husband’s presence in her household and his income for nearly seven years.
