(NEXSTAR) – Rhythmic gymnastics Olympian, Evita Griskenas, says she wants to “leave a legacy” as she gets ready to compete in Paris this summer.

“I love my sport. I love what I do and if I could leave a legacy in any way, shape, or form for rhythmic I would be honored to do that,” Griskenas said.

During the U.S. Olympic Media Summit in April, the 23-year-old from Orland Park, Illinois talked about her love for the sport.

“I absolutely love the creativity of rhythmic gymnastics and storytelling with my body. I love trying to figure out how to make connections between elements very seamless and also to really portray the music through my movements,” Griskenas said.

She has been on every Rhythmic World Championships team since 2017 and competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Griskenas currently attends Columbia College where she studies psychology.

“It’s very much all about my own coordination and communication with professors and my coach and honestly my determination to make it work,” Griskenas said.

Griskenas was the 2023 Pan American Games all-around silver medalist.
