Magnitude 3.5 earthquake strikes the coast of Northern California
An earthquake of preliminary magnitude 3.5 shook the coast of Northern California on Wednesday morning. The United States Geological Survey detected the quake at 7:34 a.m. with an epicenter 40.3 miles southwest of central Eureka and a depth of 12.5 miles. It was initially reported as magnitude 3.6, then revised to 3.5 after review.

The fire is reportedly burning deep in the State Responsibility Area, meaning Cal Fire has jurisdiction over the land, and Cal Fire was requested to respond. The best access was stated as McKay gate off of Harris Steet.
