    A Day of Remembrance: Memorial Day events throughout Utah

    SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — Memorial Day, observed on the last Monday in May, is dedicated to honoring those who last their lives in the line of duty. Here’s a list of tributes and celebrations throughout Utah you can join during the holiday weekend.

    Weber County

    Memorial Day Boot Display: From May 24-27, there will be a Memorial Day Boot Display dedicated to honoring Utah’s Fallen Service Members at the Ogden Union Station. The event will go from 11:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will feature a silent auction and opportunity drawing with proceeds going toward families of the fallen. Donations can be made at that event, and additional booths will be set up to provide information and resources. The event is free and open to the public.

    Hill Aerospace Museum: Visit this museum in Roy, which is open to the public Tuesday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features Air Force artifacts.

    Utah County

    Memorial Day: Ruck/Walk Event: On Monday, May 27, you can join The Veteran’s Lounge in walking six miles to three different cemeteries in Orem, Lindon, and Pleasant Grove. Along the way, participants will place flowers and American flags on the graves of veterans to honor the fallen.

    Camp Floyd Days: Camp Floyd State Park is hosting Camp Floyd Days on Memorial Day, May 27 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Visitors will be able to experience camp life while at the event, with the opportunity to play period games and watch re-enactors perform drill routines and fire period muskets and cannons. They can also visit the graves of soldiers who died in service to the country, see artifacts in Camp Floyd’s museum and tour the Stagecoach Inn. Museum entrance fees are $5 per person or $15 per family. Food will be available at Beefsteak’s Bistro.

    Run of Remembrance: The Run of Remembrance will take place on Monday, May 27, in American Fork. Events include a 5K, 10K, Memorial Mile and Kid’s K race. The starting line is at Robinson Park and you can register online.

    Orem Memorial Day Program: Orem’s annual Memorial Day program will be taking place this Monday, May 27, at the Orem City Cemetery Veteran’s Memorial at 10:00 a.m. According to a post from the city , it will be feature performances from the Orem Community Band and the Utah Baroque Ensemble. American Legion Post 72 will also conduct a flag ceremony with a 21-gun salute. The program will go for around an hour.

    American Fork Memorial Day Breakfast: American Fork will be having their annual Memorial Day breakfast at Fire Station 51 96 N Center Street from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. on Monday, May 27. Prices are $10 for adults and $6 for children under 13. Veterans eat free.

    Provo Memorial Day Service: Monday, May 27, at 10 a.m., there will be a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Provo City Cemetery. It will feature musical performances, heartfelt speeches and a 21-gun salute.

    Eagle Mountain Memorial Day Ceremony: Eagle Mountain City will be having a Memorial Day ceremony on May 27 at 10 a.m. at the Pony Express Memorial Cemetery.

    Salt Lake County

    West Jordan Memorial Day Car Show: From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., enjoy a free car show in West Jordan showcasing a variety of vehicles, music, awards, food and more at Veteran’s Memorial Park.

    Utah Memorial Day Ceremony: Hosted by the Utah Department of Veterans & Military Affairs, there will be a Memorial Day Ceremony on the south steps of the Utah State Capitol Building at 11 a.m on Monday, May 27. In honor of fallen heroes, Governor Spencer Cox and U.S. Representative Celeste Maloy will be delivering remarks. There will also be a musical performance and 21-gun salute by the Utah National Guard. A wreath and flags will be on display for the community to visit throughout the day.

    Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park: Visit this park , just south of Camp Williams in Bluffdale, which was dedicated on Memorial Day in 1990. Online, its described to pay “tribute as an honored burial ground to veterans, their spouses and dependent children.”

    Draper Memorial Day Ceremony: Draper will be holding their Memorial Day Ceremony at the Gold Star Families Monument on Monday, May 27, from 3 p.m. – 3 p.m. The program will include remarks a moment of silence to remember those who lost their lives.

    Sandy Memorial Day Ceremony: Sandy City will be holding their Memorial Day program on May 27 at 10 a.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens. It will include a flag ceremony by the Hill Air Force Base Honor Guard and musical performances.

    Riverton Memorial Day Ceremony: Monday, May 27, there will be a Memorial Day Program at Riverton City Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. The event will feature an honor guard, 21-gun salute, and reading of names of veterans laid to rest in the cemetery.

    Memory Grove: Visit this park in Salt Lake City , which features memorials dedicated to veterans.

    Davis County

    Bountiful Memorial Day Program: There will be a Memorial Day Program at Bountiful Veterans Park on Monday, May 27 at 11 a.m., featuring music, wreath laying, and a flyover.

    Kaysville Memorial Day Program: On Monday, May 27, there will be a Memorial Day program at the Kaysville Cemetery at 10 a.m. It will feature guest speaker Lori Jeppsen and is expected to last an hour and 15 minutes. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, as well as an umbrella in case it rains.
