Knoxville makes the Classic even more special
While every Classic is a big deal for me, this one is very special since it’s held in my home state of Tennessee. B.A.S.S. has had a lot of great hosts, but Knoxville ranks right up there with the best. If you’ve attended either of the two previous events held there, you know what I mean.

Celebrating 10 years on Market Square with Oliver Royale
🍽️ Welcome to Eat65! This free weekly guide to Knoxville's restaurant and beverage scenes comes to you from restaurant and retail reporter Joanna Hayes . Email joanna.hayes@knoxnews.com to have your blurb considered for next week! ** 🥣 Appetizer: Oliver Royale celebrates 10 years The time and energy required to open a restaurant keeps many people from trying, and it's even harder for a restaurant owner to keep the doors open year after year. Oliver Royale is celebrating 10 years in downtown Knoxville , and I was able to swing by the restaurant at 5 Market Square earlier this week for a bite and to talk to chef Darin Hoagland about the milestone. Sourcing local ingredients is important to Hoagland, who told me he changes the menu four times per year to align his dishes with the season. For our conversation, Hoagland went ahead and put together a winter harvest bowl (harissa yogurt sauce, feta, Brussels sprouts, butternut squash, heirloom carrots, petite potatoes, kale, haricot verts and assorted mushrooms) and the confit pork belly (root beer glaze, Honeycrisp apple slaw, Belgian endive, scallions and pickled serrano peppers). As the warmer months approach, Hoagland said, everyone should be on the lookout for

Freezo has a nearly 80-year history. Get the scoop on its retro glory
It might be the oldest restaurant in Knoxville . For a moment, it seemed like it would soon be gone. The Original Freezo is a cornerstone of the Happy Holler neighborhood, with its familiar all-American color palette, retro vibes and smiling ice cream cone mascot. Newcomers might give it a dubious squint, perhaps even inquire, "Is that place open?" But longtime Knoxville residents − or anyone charmed by the parts of Knoxville that keep the city scruffy − know that Freezo is the real deal. Real estate signs that popped up on the site lately cast a pall over North Central, and social media users began to speculate in late January that the beloved restaurant might be nearing its end. Knox News confirmed that's not the case , but that prompted us to take a peek into Freezo's past. As it turns out, the soft-serve spot is known as "The Original" for a reason. Freezo frenzy hits Knoxville There's a bit of a discrepancy regarding when exactly The Original Freezo opened at 1305 N. Central St. Through the years, Knoxville News-Sentinel reporting has referenced it opening in the late 1940s, but the earliest mention of a Knoxville Freezo on Newspapers.com

Fantasy Fishing: All-in on a “new” fishery
The Bassmaster Classic is headed back to the Tennessee River out of Knoxville for the third time, but those of you who are thinking it’ll be the same old, same old are in for a surprise. While the basic contours remain what they were when Ott DeFoe won in 2019 and when Gussy won in 2023, the fishery itself – and some of the rules by which they’ll play – are significantly different.
