OLEAN, NY — The Southern Tier Community Health Center Network has received a $2.4 million federal grant to support efforts to increase access to health care services.

The Southern Tier organization, based in Olean, provides primary care services to Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, according to Rep. Nick Langworthy, who announced the grant.

The network plays “an important role in providing rural and underserved populations with the quality care they deserve,” Langworthy, whose district includes the Greater Olean, said.

The grant will come from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Center Program.

The goal of the program is to improve health care access by supporting more than 1,400 health centers nationwide. The centers address disparities in health care access and outcomes and ensure that all individuals, regardless of background or financial status, have access to comprehensive, patient-centered care.
