The old adage might apply in at least this instance: The Drovers of the University of Sciences & Arts of Oklahoma will travel from Chickasha to Ann Love Stadium in Oklahoma City to face the Stars in the Sooner Athletic Conference championship game on Sunday, May 5 .

    The softball team took care of business on Saturday with a run-rule 8-0 victory over Southwestern Christian 8-0 in five innings.

    Oklahoma City dropped four of its runs in the opening frame as Kamryn Garvie drove in Rally Radacy on a sacrifice fly to right field to put the Stars on the board first.

    Following Garvie, Baleigh Loux tabbed a base knock to score Jones as the inning concluded with Loux scoring on a wild pitch.

    OCU continued to build its lead with two runs in the third, and a run in the fourth on a Radacy single through the left side before Loux walked it off with a solo home run to end the game in the fifth.

    - Through the first three games of the tournament Oklahoma City has outscored its opponents 36-1.

    - Loux led the way for OCU with a perfect day at the plate going 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Loux lifted her 10th home run of the year and has hit safely in seven straight at-bats.

    - Garvie went 1-for-2 with a run scored and notched an RBI for the sixth consecutive game while adding her 16th double of the year.

    - Radacy picked up multiple hits for the 19th time this season while going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Radacy collected her eighth double of the year while extending her hitting streak to four games in a row while driving in a run for the fourth consecutive contest on top of scoring for the sixth straight game.

    - Iliana Ashford was the third and final Star to pick up more than one base hit going 2-for-2 for the second straight game to go along with her ninth double of the year.

    - Emersen Heron improved to 24-0 on the year after earning the win in just four innings pitched. Heron allowed only four hits while shutting out the Eagles without a walk or a strikeout. Shelbey Cornelson came in for the fifth and faced four batters where she struck out two, walked one, and induced a fly out to left field.

    - Kaitlyn Jones extended her hitting streak to five games in a row while also stealing her 19th bag of the year.

    USAO 8-0 win over Mid-America Christian, distilled:

    In Chickasha, the Lady Drovers garnered a dominant 8-0 victory against No. 3 Mid-America Christian University (36-15, 27-9 SAC).

    The triumph extends USAO's win streak to 24 and extends their shutout streak to 23 innings.

    The Drovers have dominated the all-time series against the Evangels, going 52-15 against MACU since April 1, 2008 . Additionally, USAO has won 29 of the last 35 against MACU since 2017.

    The Drovers have earned run-rule victories in six of their last seven games.

    The USAO offense was led by five multi-hit performances, including Malea McMurtrey's 3-4 performance, which included three runs scored.

    Sierra Selfridge went 2-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and four runs batted in. Kenzie Williams was perfect at the dish, going 2-2 with a double and two runs scored. Leighanne Eaton went 2-4 with a run scored and a run batted in, while Macenzie Ruth went 2-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a run batted in.

    Sophie Williams helped her own cause by going 1-2 with a pair of RBIs.

    Addison Willis delivered a single in her only at bat of the game.

    Sophie Williams improved her record to 25-4 as she pitched 3.0 scoreless innings. She surrendered only one hit, and she struck out two batters. Additionally, Williams has not surrendered a run in her last 49.0 innings pitched. During the scoreless streak, she has struck out 96 batters.

    This season, Williams owns a 0.78 earned run average and she has struck out 248 batters in 161.2 innings pitched.

    The OCU Stars and USAO Drovers softball teams will play for the SAC title on Sunday at 3 p.m. on the campus of Oklahoma City University.

    This is the sixth consecutive year the two teams have met in the SAC Championship game as USAO won last year's title 4-1 whereas the Stars took three out of four in the regular season this year.
