Mullen makes All-State baseball team
This week, the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association made public All-State teams for small classes (B-2A), middle classes (3A-4A), and large classes (5A6A). They will be divided into West and East teams and will play a game against the other on June 2 at David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid. Congratulations to Dewar High School’s Zach Mullen, first base, who is coached by coach Josh Killhoffer for his selection to the Small East squad. The team will play at 6 p.m. on June 2 in Enid. The Dewar Dragons Baseball team made it to the 2024 OSSAA State Baseball Tournament this year, and ended the season with an outstanding 26-3 record.

Emerald ash borer heads south, confirmed in five new Texas counties
The devastating and invasive emerald ash borer beetle is confirmed in five new Texas counties, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. The non-native small green beetle has now been confirmed in Grayson, Hill, Hood, McLennan, and Palo Pinto counties. On Monday, the city of Dallas confirmed the beetle had been found at two locations in city limits, including inside the Great Trinity Forest which is estimated to be 40% ash trees.

Summer Courses Begin Next Week at SSC
Summer courses begin Monday, May 20, at Seminole State College. The enrollment period for the first slate of summer courses remains open through May 22. HPS Tennis Celebrates Retiring Coach, Mentor
Congratulations to Henryetta Coach Nadine Graham on her well-deserved retirement. She was surprised last week with a special retirement celebration by coaches, students and supporters. Graham retired May 10 after 10 years with Henryetta Schools.

Patricia Ann Berry was born September 13, 1949, to Lessie Mae Combs and Matherine Yarbrough in Wetumka, Oklahoma. She completed her education in the Wetumka Public School system. Patricia was raised in the Church of God in Christ on the north side of Wetumka, later becoming a member of First Baptist Church North, then finally Living Water PHC, all in Wetumka.
