Early morning vehicle fire in Okatie sends 1 person to the hospital, destroys food trailer

OKATIE, S.C. (WSAV)- Firefighters were on the scene of an early morning vehicle fire in Okatie that sent one person to the hospital and destroyed a food trailer.

Firefighters responded to a reported vehicle fire on Rivers End Rd. about 7:00 a.m., Friday morning.

When crew members arrived, they discovered a food kitchen trailer fully engulfed in flames.

Efforts to contain the fire were quickly initiated to prevent further damage to the attached pickup truck or nearby houses.

Unfortunately, the fire did get ahold of the food trailer, resulting in complete destruction.

The incident resulted in one person being transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening burns and a family’s food business trailer being destroyed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office while investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
