Stolen Trash Authority Truck Recovered
Two men were arrested and now face multiple criminal charges after allegedly stealing a truck from the North Central Solid Waste Authority. The truck, a 1998 Ford with a 400-gallon gas tank installed on the back was taken from the facility during a break-in the night of May 12. The break-in was reported on May 13, along with the missing truck, keys and a battery.
Man Arrested after Allegedly Shooting at RASO SWAT Team
A 62-year-old Española man was arrested on a warrant out of Hood County, Texas May 15, but after a standoff with Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies, he also faces one charge each of aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.

Viva Vida! Vida is being pawroled from the Paws in the Pen dog training program at the Penitentiary of New Mexico, where she is enrolled in an eight-week 24/7 curriculum with her inmate trainers. This long-legged, gorgeous gal is by far the smartest pup from her group in the program. She is so willing to engage, and absolutely enjoys the work ... and the treats probably don’t hurt either. Vida loves to be involved and will definitely vocalize how excited she is to see you. This 1-year-old, 60-lb. smarty pants is ready to find her forever home — and to knock your socks off with her skills. Neveah Cachora Wins Medal for Distance Race; Sundevil Relay Team Qualifies
Neveah Cachora felt all the emotions through her race. “It was, me giving up on myself, or just telling myself that I could do it,” Cachora said. But Cachora, a sophomore at Española Valley High School, pushed through and placed fifth in the girls 3200 meters with a time of 12 minutes, 9 seconds at the state track and field championships in Albuquerque on May 18. She brought down her time by nearly 20 seconds from her previous best, and by nearly 50 seconds from the start of the year.
