    Nordhoff's Quin Seider sets two records at CIF-SS Division 3 Swimming Championships

    Quin Seider capped his Southern Section swimming career with two more record-setting performances in the pool.

    The Nordhoff High senior set the meet record in the 100 freestyle and broke his own mark in the 200 freestyle to take home two titles at the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 Swimming Championships on Friday at Mount San Antonio College.

    Seider won the 100 freestyle in 43.36 seconds and after breaking the 200 freestyle mark with a time of 1:36.45 during Wednesday's Prelims, the Arizona State commit set the record again Friday with a time of 1:35.27 in the final.

    The Star’s two-time Boys Swimmer of the Year finished his high school career with five CIF-SS titles. He won the Division 3 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle titles in his junior season and won the Division 4 100 butterfly title as a freshman. He is scheduled to compete at the state championships next weekend at Clovis Olympic Swim Complex in his final meet as a high school swimmer.

    Three weeks ago, the 18-year-old Seider qualified for this summer’s U.S. Olympic swimming trials in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.84 seconds during the Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions at the Marguerite Aquatic Center in Mission Viejo.

    Seider, Benjamin McSorley, Rafael Sierra and Flynn VanAuker finished fifth in the boys 200 freestyle relay (1:30.18) and the foursome took sixth on the 200 medley relay (1:40.56). VanAuker was seventh in the 100 backstroke (54.78) and McSorley placed 16th in the100 breaststroke (1:00.20) as Nordhoff finished eighth as a team.

    Another local swimmer picked up a CIF-SS individual title during Friday's meet.

    Rio Mesa High senior Jaiden Monroe won the boys 100 butterfly in a time of 50.36 to earn his first CIF-SS championship. Monroe also placed third in the 100 backstroke in 51.01. Monroe, Parker Steen, Camilo Solis and Lucas Cornejo finished 12th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:32.01) for the Spartans.

    One local relay team captured a CIF-SS title. Pablo Ingrum, March Yuan, Hunter Glass and Elliott Druttar of Oak Park won the boys 400 freestyle relay in 3:12.80. Drotter, Yuan, Glass and Jin MingChen also placed 10th in the 200 IM relay (1:41.58).

    Ingrum had third-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:35.27) and 500 freestyle (4:42.57), Drottar took fifth in the 50 freestyle (21.45) and seventh in the 100 freestyle (47.63), and Yuan placed sixth in the 200 IM (1:58.22) as Oak Park finished fourth as a team with 145 points. Bonita won the men's title with 171 points.

    David Mazyan set the Agoura program record in the boys 50 freestyle, finishing in 20.70 seconds to take second place. He also placed fourth in the 100 freestyle in 46.44.

    The Buena boys team had two top-10 finishes in relay races. Caleb Jones, Wyatt Munger, Jack Pointner and Nate Johnson took third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:28.77) and Munger, Johnson, Brayden Black and Pointer placed seventh in the 400 freestyle relay (3:20.69). Pointner finished sixth in the 200 freestyle (1:47.61) and 12th in the 100 freestyle (49.51) and Michael Ramirez was 15th in the 100 backstroke (57.65) as the Bulldogs placed 13th as a team.

    For Calabasas, Joaquin Sucgang was 14th in the boys 500 freestyle (5:04.23) and 18th in the 200 freestyle (1:52.83) and Daniel Oroszlan finished 16th in the 50 freestyle (22.57) and 17th in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.13).

    GIRLS

    The Buena girls team had two third-place finishes in the relays and Addison Bruno had two fifth-place performances in the freestyle events as the Bulldogs finished sixth as a team with 111 points. Quartz Hill won the girls team title with 181.50 points.

    Bruno, Olivia DeCierdo, Kendall Nagaoka and Maren Bursek took third in the 400 freestyle relay (3:47.73) and Bruno, Nagaoka, Madelyn Pierce and Bursek placed third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:44.11). Bruno was fifth in the 50 freestyle (24.81) and 100 freestyle (55.00). DeCierdo was 13th in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.78) and Nagaoka placed 18th in the 200 freestyle (2:06.36).

    Led by sophomore Melina Seider, the Nordhoff girls team finished 16th in the team standings with 66 points. Seider took fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:11.08) and placed sixth in 200 freestyle (1:57.46). Amelie Pinkernell was fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.76) and placed 11th in the 50 freestyle (25.37). Pinkernell, Avery Harris, Kirra Fink and Seider finished 16th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.07) and the foursome also placed 17th in the 400 freestyle relay (3:58.71).

    Cynthia Hu of Foothill Tech finished third in the 200 IM (2:11.08) and 500 freestyle (5:09.45).

    Faith Marshall of Royal placed third in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.58).

    Caroline Bi of Oak Park placed sixth in the 100 backstroke (59.31) and was 10th in the 200 IM (2:14.61).

    Zoe Fairley of Westlake was 15th in the 500 freestyle (5:35.69).

    Zara Dragoi, Maya Campo, Kira Jones and Hanna Denson of Thousand Oaks placed 14th in the 400 freestyle relay (3:55.79).
