Minnesota voters will consider a proposed constitutional amendment related to the state’s Permanent School Fund during the Nov. 3 general election. The Permanent School Fund dates back to Minnesota’s statehood in 1858, when public lands were set aside to generate revenue for public education. Revenue from school trust lands, including timber, mining, leases and other natural resource activities, is deposited into the fund and invested by the Minnesota State Board of Investment.

Jennifer Cassidy is the new principal of St. Raphael Catholic School in Springfield. She began her duties August 10, so it was a fast transition before the school year actually began August 24. New teachers begin year by meeting community members
During a luncheon sponsored by the Waseca Rotary Club on Aug. 27, 12 teachers new to Waseca’s schools had a chance to meet some members of the community; members of the Waseca Lions and Exchange Club also attended. The new staff have positions all around the community, including Waseca Community Education, the Alternative Learning Center, Hartley Elementary, Sacred Heart and Children’s House Montessori, Team Academy, Waseca Intermediate School and the Waseca Junior Senior High.
