Odessa radio host, his family, killed in Ector County crash

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- A popular radio DJ from Odessa, and his family, were among four killed in an Ector County crash Saturday afternoon.

According to a Texas Department of Public Safety crash report around 2:45 p.m. on April 20, troopers responded to a crash involving two vehicles in the area of 42 ^nd Street and FM 1936. At the scene, investigators found a Dodge Ram 1500 and a Chevrolet Silverado involved in a head-on collision.

Investigators said the driver of the Dodge, identified as 19-year-old Leo Sandoval, of Clint, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of 42 ^nd Street on the wrong side of the road when he struck the Chevrolet, driven by 46-year-old Hector Manuel Martinez-Olivas. Martinez-Olivas, a radio DJ for Q-108, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the Chevrolet, Norma Estela Marquez-Gonzales, 45, and a 14-year-old boy, also died at the scene.

Investigators said Sandoval was also seriously injured in the crash; he was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
