Panhandling
For those folks in Ocean Springs who have become concerned with the ever-growing homeless problem and the risk of professional panhandlers, don’t even bother bringing it up to the city’s administration. I’ve written every single alderperson, including the mayor, and the only person to even bother responding to me was Rob Blackman and aside from insulting me, basically said nothing will be done. There’s too high of a risk of a lawsuit. That being said, local business owners should really consider taking matters into their own hands to deter the aforementioned professionals from setting up shop and flying a sign on their properties. Kudos for the management at Spring Plaza for stepping up and being proactive in this matter.
Here’s to 60 more
Mary Mahoney’s celebrates 60 years of the best seafood and service ever on the Mississippi Coast. If you’ve never been, put it on your bucket list now. Nothing compares. Absolutely nothing.
Trump’s ego
Donald Trump needs to straighten up and fly right or he’ll be the first-ever president in jail. All of the other presidents in trouble knew to do what they needed to do. Trump’s over-inflated ego is going to be his go-to-jail ticket.
Fat chance
Let me see the hands of those who think Donald Trump will pick Sen. Tim Scott as his running-mate? He’s licking boots for nothing.
Actions speak
The Republican party is no longer the party of less government. Women are denied the right to their own bodies by the government. What it stands for is less regulation of big businesses and tax incentives for the wealthy. Which, by the way, does not apply to the majority of us.
Preferential treatment
While Donald Trump and his supporters have been whining for months about his horribly unfair treatment in the justice system, none seem to want to mention the special treatment he has received in regards to the gag order violations. Any one of us would be in jail after the second instance occurred. The judge has been more than patient and fair to Trump, who seems bent on pushing him to the limit so that he can add incarceration to his repertoire of “poor persecuted me.”
Democracy
Democracy consists of resolving differences of opinion by voting rather than violence. Why is Democracy so important? Because people have such extremely different ways of seeing, feeling about, and judging things and people, as is dramatically clear from these Sound Offs. Some people on both sides of nearly every issue believe that those who disagree with them are either flat-out stupid or evil. If we do not restrict ourselves to the democratic processes of debating and voting for making decisions, our nation is a house built on sand and will eventually be broken apart and washed away by waves of recession and violence. Let’s commit ourselves and the U.S.A. to Democracy.
