(KRON) — An Oakland man known as a subject of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation was arrested on Wednesday, the San Francisco Police Department said.

The suspect, Darwin Paz, 27, from Oakland, was suspected of possessing a firearm in addition to trafficking fentanyl in San Francisco, SFPD said.

Officers located and arrested Paz without incident in the area of Golden Gate Ave. and Leavenworth Street in San Francisco.

Paz possessed fentanyl, a concealed firearm, and live rounds, police said.

After serving a search warrant in Paz’s home in Oakland, officers seized an assault rifle with an optic scope, fentanyl, multiple rifle parts, several extended and loaded magazines, and “controlled substance manufacturing equipment,” police said.

Paz was booked into San Francisco County Jail for possession for sale of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance while armed, sale or transportation of a controlled substance, possession of a large capacity magazine, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, carrying a concealed firearm, prohibited firearm, carrying a concealed firearm within a vehicle, and carrying a loaded firearm by a non-registered person.

While an arrest has been made, this remains an open and active investigation. Anyone with helpful information is asked to call the SFPD Tip Line at 415-575-444.
