Police in Oakland took two suspects into custody Tuesday afternoon following a stolen vehicle pursuit where patrol units followed two different suspect vehicles on East Bay freeways and city streets.

The suspect appeared to abandon the vehicle and was walking through a neighborhood on foot before he walked up to a house, where he met with a second individual before they left that home in a white station wagon.

After the station wagon drove into a different Oakland neighborhood, police were able to track the two suspects down and stop the vehicle. The two individuals were taken into custody without incident.

Video of the pursuit ending with the suspects being taken into custody can be viewed below.

Police later confirmed that officers were investigating a report of stolen vehicle on the 900 block of 105th Avenue shortly before 1 p.m. Arriving officers saw the vehicle that had been reported stolen occupied by an individual. Officers attempted to conduct an enforcement stop on the vehicle and the individual drove off.

The OPD helicopter responded to assist with the pursuit, following the vehicle as it traveled through various parts of Oakland. The driver stopped on the 3500 block of Suter Street exited the vehicle. The driver would then enter the passenger side of another vehicle driven by a second individual that then fled the area.

The police helicopter proceeded to follow the second vehicle for a time until it stopped on the 1300 block of 107th Avenue. Multiple individuals exited the vehicle and fled on foot, but responding officers were able to quickly take them into custody.

Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPD Criminal investigations Division at (510)238-3728.
