In front of a record turnout at the Oak Ridge Senior Center , Kermit Raxter and Ruth Gove defeated Gary and Barb Dlouhy 13-11, 3-11, 12-10, 6-11, and 11-9 to win the recent mixed doubles table tennis tournament.

Both teams narrowly advanced to the finals after winning fifth-game deuce matches in the semifinals. Other semifinal teams were Tony Capozzi/Julia Scruggs and Mike Pethel/Jinny Longee.

Twenty-eight players turned out to play or watch the tournament.

Also playing as teams were Linh and Sa Le, Jehan Mistry and Mona Wallace, Dick Barnett and Sharla Zahn, and Mark and Nancy Schmidt.

This was the fourth monthly tournament held at the Senior Center this year. A beginner/intermediate doubles tournament is scheduled for May 24.

The Oak Ridge Senior Center has an active table tennis group that meets three times weekly: 3:30-6:30 on Tuesday; 2-4 on Friday, and 9-12:30 Saturday. The Senior Center is at 1407 Oak Ridge Turnpike, adjacent to the Oak Ridge Civic Center.
