NUTLEY, NJ - The Nutley Farmers Market hosted their second of two spring pop-up markets on Sunday, May 19, ahead of the formal opening day in June.

"Sunday's pop-up Farmers Market was a great jump start to our 15th season that starts next month. It was great to see all our residents on a beautiful Sunday and look forward to another great season supporting our farmers and vendors." said Township of Nutley Mayor Joseph P. Scarpelli.

The 15th season of the Nutley Farmers Market formally kicks off at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 16 in the municipal lot at 507 Franklin Ave.

The 2024 season will include some familiar faces, including Asprocola Acres (Farmer George), Hidden Valley Farms, The Empanada Lady, the pickle and olives vendor, NJ Baker, the lemonade vendor, Cozze Coffee, and a rotating lineup of local brewers and distilleries.

We asked farmer George what to expect on opening day - he told us he would have a lot of herbs, garlic and onions from his own fields, as well as spring peas. He'll have tomatoes from colleagues whose farms are further south on opening day. His farm's Jersey-grown tomatoes will be available mid-July.

Neshanic Farms, "the honey guy," is returning again this season. There is a huge flavor difference between local honey and the commercial products in the supermarket. Pickles and olives are popular, but did you know they also sell fantastic Turkish Delight?

Iberica Chips, one of our favorite snacks, and Hyssop Beauty Apothecary, with both scheduled to make occasional visits to the market this season.

Market Manager Meredith Blank told TAPinto Nutley that there will be a host of special events and initiatives this summer.

The other "hot news" about the market is that there are still opportunities for vendors and even farmers to participate, even on an occasional basis.
