NUTLEY, NJ - With the biggest sporting event in Nutley taking place on Sunday, all eyes are on the skies. The most recent forecast suggests the Nutley Chamber of Commerce 5K won't be so wet after all. According to Mike Zippo, of Zippo Car Stereo and "Runner in Chief" at the Nutley Chamber of Commerce, "Runners are like the mailman, rain, sleet, snow we run." He added that "once we get to the starting line, it's on." According to the National Weather Service (NWS), there is a 40% chance of showers on Saturday night, mainly after 11 p.m. Then expect cloudy skies with the overnight temperature hovering around 49. There is a 70% chance of showers for Sunday, but the NWS reports they will happen mainly after 2 p.m. Total rainfall of between 1/10th to 1/4 inch is possible. With an 8 a.m. start, that's great news for the runners and walkers participating in the 5K. "All is takes is one step, and the rest is easy." Zippo told us. So there is a strong possibility of additional runners and walkers signing up now and in the morning. According to the Nutley Chamber of Commerce, There's still time to register online for tomorrow morning's 5K Run/Walk, Kids Fun Run (ages 6-8), and Kids Short Sprint (ages 5 & under) at nutleychamber.com/5k or you can register on-site Sunday morning beginning at 8 a.m. at Nutley High School Park Oval! (Please Note: NO baby strollers allowed on Oval Field, and NO pets allowed in Oval complex) Not running, no problem. Last year, TAPinto Nutley averaged the number of steps taken by walkers. With an average of 5200 steps, the idea of a 5K doesn't seem that intimidating after all. The Nutley Chamber of Commerce 5K would not be possible without the support from local sponsors. When making a purchase for yourself or business, ask "what businesses really support the community?" The 24th Annual #Nutley Chamber 5K Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run is brought to you by:
