The attention has turned to the 2026 class. On Thursday, the 15th day the Notre Dame football coaching staff is on the road recruiting this spring, they will be scattered across the nation seeing high school sophomores—several of whom picked up Fighting Irish scholarship offers during the program’s St. Patrick’s Day-themed Pot of Gold Day recruiting event.

During the spring period, the Irish staff can have “contact” with high school juniors. That means they can have full-on conversations rather than just a “bump” as previously allowed. But as far as 2026 prospects and beyond go, the “bump” rule remains. They cannot see a prospect more than once this recruiting period.

The NCAA does not permit head coaches from visiting prospects during the spring period.

Here is where the Fighting Irish staff is expected to be on Thursday, according to Blue & Gold sources:

    — After spending Wednesday in Detroit, defensive backs coach Mike Mickens heads down to the Sunshine State. His primary stop is at Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie to see four-star safety Xavier Lherisse . The No. 18 prospect at his position in 2026 added the Irish to his offer sheet on Pot of Gold Day.

    — Defensive line coach Al Washington heads to his home state of Ohio to check in on Trotwood (Ohio) Trotwood-Madison 2026 EDGE Jamarcus Whyce . The three-star and No. 30 EDGE in the class picked up his Irish offer on Pot of Gold Day. The Irish eventually hosted him on an unofficial visit on March 23.

    — Instead of being in Houston on Wednesday, defensive coordinator Al Golden will actually be there on Thursday.

Golden will be at the high schools of the following two 2026 targets: Noriel Dominguez of Houston Fort Bend Marshall and Tank King from Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial. King and Dominguez, both four-stars, rank as the Nos. 15 and 21 linebackers in the 2026 class, respectively,

    — Special teams coordinator Marty Biagi plans to stop by Brandon (Miss.) Hartfield Academy to see 2026 safety Bralan Womack . The four-star prospect and the No. 9 safety in the class will be at Notre Dame on June 2 for the program’s annual Irish Invasion prospect camp.

    — Offensive line coach Joe Rudolph will be at Merrillville (Ind.) Andrean to see 2026 offensive tackle Benjamin Novak. The 6-foot-7, 300-pounder has offers from Indiana and Louisville.

    — Quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli will be area recruiting in Mississippi.

    — Linebackers coach Max Bullough plans to be in Seattle for area recruiting purposes.

Blue & Gold does not expect offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Mike Denbrock , wide receivers coach Mike Brown and running backs coach Deland McCullough to see any prospects on Thursday.
