An ATM at a local bank was heavily damaged and a significant amount of money was stolen.

At approximately 8:50 a.m. on Sunday, members of the Norwich Police Department Patrol and Detective divisions responded to the Eastern Connecticut Savings Bank branch located at 666 West Main St. in Norwich for reported damage to the drive-through ATM.

Upon arrival, officers observed the heavily damaged ATM had been compromised and a large sum of money had been stolen. The initial investigation revealed multiple subjects worked together, using a pickup truck and hand tools, to pry the ATM open and steal its contents.
