    Northfield track & field boys and girls both finished 2nd at Rochester triangular

    The Northfield High School track and field teams turned in second-place finishes at the Rochester Mayo triangular meet on Monday, April 29.

    The NHS boys team finished the meet with 57 points, while Mankato East won the event with a team total of 93 and Rochester Mayo was third at 36. In the girls competition, Northfield just missed a first-place finish, as it had 74 points, and Mankato East had 74.5 points. Rochester Mayo completed the meet with 37.5 points.

    First place finishes for the Raiders included Gavin Novotny in the 100 meter dash at 11.39 and the 200 dash at 23.61. Sam Swedin placed first in the 400 meters at 53.68 and he was second in the long jump at 18-07.

    The NHS boys 4x100 relay placed first at 44.38, while Stephen Feig won the pole vault at 13-00 and Malcom Poole was second in the triple jump at 37-07.25. Other second place finishes for NHS included Kamarion Gant in the high jump at 5-8 and Jason Aldorfer in the 3200 meters.

    In the girls 300 hurdles, Emily Beaham placed first at 49.92 and Peyton Quaas placed first in the 1600 meters at 5:34.16. Northfield’s distance power was also on display in the 3200 meters as Addison Enfield posted a first place time of 11:43.37.

    Alaina French added a first place finish in the discus throw for NHS at 115-03 and was first in the shot put at 36-01, while teammate Inga Johnson was second at 33-01. In the triple jump Norah Gottfried placed first at 30-05 and Erika Nesseth placed first in the pole vault at 10-00. The Raiders also earned a first place field event finish in high jump as Amber Mahal won that event with a leap of 5-00.

    On Friday, April 26, Feig and French competed at the Hamline Elite Meet in St. Paul with French posting a second place finish in the shot put and Feig placing 10th in the shot put.

    The Northfield teams will continue their season on Tuesday, May 7 with the True Team Section meet at Lakeville South.
