    Northfield boys golf takes 2nd at Big 9 meet

    The Northfield High School boys golf team finished as the runner-up at the Big 9 Conference tournament, which was held on Wednesday, April 24 at the Mankato Golf Club. The Raiders posted a score of 311, while Albert Lea won the team title with a score of 301.

    Faribault placed third at the meet with a score of 313 followed by Rochester Mayo (317), Rochester Century (321), Mankato West (328), Owatonna (331), Red Wing (334), Austin (338), Mankato East (341), John Marshall (345) and Winona (357).

    Northfield’s Miles Poole led the team with a second-place score of 74 at the tournament, while Noah Teeter of Albert Lea won the meet with a score of 69. Northfield’s Sam Boardman placed 10th overall with a score of 78 and teammate Elias Ekern was 12th at 79. The Northfield scorecard was completed by Oliver Benjamin (17th place/80), Griffin Kennelly (31st place/83) and Will Cashin (52nd place/90).

    The Raiders will return to action on Thursday, May 2 at the Northfield Golf Club as they will host a 11-team tournament. On Monday, May 6, Northfield will be back at the Northfield Golf Club for a Big 9 triangle meet featuring Faribault and Winona.
