Algonquin Regional's Grace Chiota and Bella Roman have been voted the High School Girls Lacrosse Players of the Week. The duo combined to receive over 11,000 votes. Chiota, a junior, had 5 points, including No. 100 of her career, in an 11-9 win over Leominster. Roman chipped in 5 goals and an assist in that victory. Roman had another 5-goal game, including No. 100 of her career, in a 10-8 win over Shrewsbury. Chiotta had 2 goals and an assist in that one.

Jason Ruschioni won plenty of golf tournaments with his father, Jim, one of the most successful amateur golfers in Massachusetts for the last several decades. They finished first in the Mass. They won the Pleasant Valley Labor Day Four-Ball, the Crumpin-Fox Father’s Day Two-Ball and the Eastern States Four-Ball at Oak Ridge CC four times in a row. They prevailed in the Father-Son at Oak Hill CC in Fitchburg about 15 times.

May 2, Acton Boxborough Regional High School girls softball team: A great pitcher’s duel between A-B’s Ila Gillespie and Shrewsbury’s Marcia Bentley was ultimately decided by errors, as the A-B Revolution eked out a 4-3 extra-inning, walk-off victory over the Shrewsbury Colonials. The Revs clung to a 2-0 lead until their guests scored three runs in the sixth inning via an error, followed by three straight doubles. A-B tied it in the sixth when Anya Weir singled, Georgia Ammendolia reached on an error, and Alice Rosecan and Clara Innella both singled.
