Rakim Lubin, Former UConn Basketball Star, Dies at 28
It’s a sad day for the University of Connecticut basketball fans. Former UConn men’s basketball player Rakim Lubin has died. The alum was just 28 years old too. Lubin played for the team during the 2014-15 season. Growing up in Gadsen, Alabama, he earned the nickname “Rock” thanks to both his size and intimidating figure. He used that to his advantage while on the court. It let him go far. He became a three-star recruit after graduating from Buford High School in Georgia. Lubin also earned all-region honors and first-team all-state. He earned Georgia Sportswriters 3A layer of the Year. Ultimately, Lubind decided to go to UConn over Auburn and Georgia Tech.

STORRS, Conn. — It does not appear retirement is on the mind of UConn women’s basketball head coach Geno Auriemma, as the Hall of Famer is bringing the No. 2 overall recruiting class to Storrs this fall, according to ESPN. With the addition of Sarah Strong to incoming freshmen Allie Ziebell and Morgan Cheli, Auriemma announced the completion of the prized 2024 class on Tuesday.

Emma Marelli figured her competitive softball days were over after graduating from Waterford High School. She didn’t receive any interest from college softball programs. Backus Hospital internships for people with disabilities are a win-win: a 60-second read
United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Eastern Connecticut will run the Project SEARCH internship program at Backus Hospital in the fall. This unpaid internship will give people aged 18-35 with intellectual or developmental disabilities various jobs around the hospital for nine months, while they learn skills to get into the workforce.
