Police find wanted man hiding in Williamsport home
Williamsport, Pa. — U.S. Marshals found a wanted fugitive hiding behind a wall and dresser inside a Williamsport apartment. Samuel Hiram Harris, who was convicted of illegally possessing a gun this month, was tucked behind furniture when police found him with the help of a K-9 unit. Harris ignored several orders by police as they stood at the top of a second-floor stairwell inside the apartment, according to Sergeant Brian McGee. Police eventually located Harris, who was hiding behind a dresser, wall, and mirror. McGee said he was curled into a "small ball." A warrant was issued for Harris after he failed to show for jury selection in January. A trial was held this month and Harris was found guilty of possessing a firearm illegally despite not showing up for the trial. Harris was also charged with flight to avoid apprehension, a third-degree felony. He is being held at the Lycoming County Prison on $50,000 monetary bail. Docket sheet 1 Docket sheet 2
