    Spotswood High School Softball Clinches Back-to-Back GMC White Division Championships with Shutout over North Plainfield

    Spotswood High School's varsity softball team clinched back-to-back GMC White Division championships and the program's third consecutive division title with 17-0 shutout over North Plainfield.

    NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - Spotswood High School's varsity softball team clinched back-to-back Greater Middlesex Conference White Division championships on Thursday with a 17-0 shutout over North Plainfield High School. The title is the third consecutive division title for the Chargers. Spotswood won the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division title in 2022.

    Mikayla Ott pitched a one-hit shutout and struck out seven to earn the victory on the mound for Spotswood. The Chargers erupted for five runs in the first and 10 in the second. Hanna Brown had a big afternoon at the plate for the Chargers. Brown hit three singles, had four RBIs and scored four of the Chargers' runs. The senior also had a stolen base. Gabrielle Hill hit a double, scored a run and had a stolen base. Juliana Fulinello hit a single and scored a run. Isabella Vitale scored two runs and had a stolen base. Sasha Soffer hit an RBI double and scored a run. Juliana Ziegler hit a triple, had two RBIs and scored two runs. Delanie DiStefano hit a single. Hannah Graulich hit two singles and scored two runs. Maya Redondo scored a run. Victoria Ziegler hit a double and had an RBI. Reese Cunningham scored a run for Spotswood. Molly Walsh hit a double and had two RBIs. Walsh scored one of the Chargers runs. Ott also scored a run for Spotswood.

    Spotswood's victory improved the team's overall season record to 15-2. The Chargers head to Mannino Park in Old Bridge to take on the Knights. Old Bridge has an overall season record of 13-4. Game time is at 4 p.m.
