( WJET/WFXP )– With boating the season just around the corner, the PA Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) announced Thursday that maintenance work will be beginning shortly on the North East Marina.

Work is expected to begin on the marina on Monday, April 1 with the launch ramps staying closed until it’s completed with the public launch opening for the season on April 27.

Mentored Youth Trout Day set for Saturday

In the meantime, visitors are being asked to use caution when there as crews will be dredging near the ramps and in the channel with heavy equipment.

Once open for the season, visitors will have access to the two boat launch ramps, a fish cleaning station, portable toilets, and seasonal courtesy docks during the summer and fall weather permitting.

North East Marina Authority initiative at standstill, officials divided on how to proceed

Portions of the marina’s basin were closed at the end of the 2023 season due to significant costs for environmental permitts and infrastructure needs.

The PFBC said they’re still collaborating with officials and members of the public to find ways to preserve public boating access at the marina.
