North Charleston man sentenced to 12 years for gun, drug charges

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A North Charleston man will serve twelve years in prison after pleading guilty to weapons and drug charges.

Warren Lamar Forrest, 32, pled guilty to possessing a firearm after a felony conviction, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, according to the Department of Justice.

Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) agents searched Forrest’s home. They found a black bag with a stolen loaded 9mm pistol, three 9mm caliber magazines, an assault rifle, two assault rifle magazines, two digital scales, and a pound and a half of marijuana in his room.

Forrest has several prior felony convictions and is therefore prohibited from possessing firearms, the DOJ said.

Forrest was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Bruce Hendricks and will serve a four-year term of court-ordered supervision following prison time.

This case was investigated by the ATF, FBI Columbia Field Office, North Charleston Police Department, and Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
