North Adams police seize narcotics cache, two arrested

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) – Two men were arrested by North Adams police following a traffic stop on Wednesday.

The targeted operation, which is part of an ongoing investigation, culminated in a traffic stop in North Adams. Officer Cogswell, accompanied by K9 Rocky, detected the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.

Upon searching the car, law enforcement officers discovered a cache of illicit substances, including fentanyl, crack cocaine, and Xanax. Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested. Simultaneously, investigators, in collaboration with the Williamstown Police Department, executed a search warrant at a residence in Williamstown, as part of the ongoing probe.

The search yielded substantial evidence, including a sizable quantity of various narcotics, cash, and drug paraphernalia.

The seized evidence included:

• Approximately 76 grams of Fentanyl (equivalent to 3,800 bags)
• Approximately 41 grams of crack cocaine
• Approximately 182 grams of Xanax
• Approximately 4 Oxycodone pills
• Approximately $4,597 in U.S. Currency
• Digital scales and packaging materials

Both individuals involved were charged with multiple offenses under Massachusetts law, including trafficking in fentanyl and cocaine, possession with intent to distribute Xanax, possession of Oxycodone, and conspiracy.

A cash bail of $7,500 was set for each pending their arraignment in Northern Berkshire District Court.
