Patty Gasso, softball head coach at the University of Oklahoma, is the third NCAA coach to reach 1,500 career wins in Division I softball.

With a hard-fought 2-1 win over the University of Central Florida on Saturday, April 28 , her Sooners (now 44-4 overall this season, 20-3 in the Big 12) garnered her the historic benchmark. The team won the Friday's game in the Sunshine State by a 10-2 score.

Gasso and her squad are defending NCAA Division softball champions. After winning three titles in a row (and seven since 2000) Gasso's ladies want to make it four straight.

They are presently leading the Big12 conference, just ahead of Texas and Oklahoma State.

Now in her thirtieth year at OU, she is already a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Hall of Fame. The title wins came in 2000, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

OU is one of only three programs in history to win more than two championships.

Her overall collegiate coaching win total is 1,661.

In her youth, she played college softball at California State University, Long Beach.

Patty Gasso began her coaching career at Long Beach City College, earning a 161-59-1 mark before coming to OU thirty years ago.
