Oklahoma City -- The University of Oklahoma sustained their winning habits, scoring nine runs to win their ninth straight game. Sweetening the victory for the Sooners is the fact it came over the Texas Longhorns.

The 9-4 victory is only part of the story from Norman. A record single-game crowd of 4,812 fans witnessed the game at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

Even while savoring the win, with stormy weather almost certain, OU fans learned early Saturday morning that officials had agreed to postpone the second contest until Sunday . With that decision, a double-header will commence at 1 p.m. tomorrow . The two sides and their respective fans will get a 45-minute intermission before playing the second game.

Fans with game 2 tickets will be able to come to game two when the stadium opens Sunday morning at 11 a.m.

The “SoonerSports” story declared the home team on Friday "fired on all cylinders. OU hit a pair of home runs while the defense played an error-free game and the pitching staff struck out a combined 13 batters."

Left-hander Braden Davis was on the mound for six innings, getting nine strikeouts while scattering seven hits and three walks, allowing only one run.

He raised his season mark to 5-3.

While by no means a rout, the victory was solid from pillar to post. Getting three runs in the second and one in the third, the Sooners stayed in charge of the direction of the contest. The Longhorns, among baseball's most skilled teams, got one to start the fifth stanza, but OU replied in the bottom of the sixth for a 5-1 advantage.

The seventh inning saw the Longhorns get another run, but the Sooners replied with a trio of scores to reach an 8-2 edge.

In that inning, OU's Anthony Mackenzie blasted a homer into right-center field. Then, Jaxon Willits hit a single to bring Kendall Pettis across home plate. John Spikerman, thanks to a fielder's choice, brought Scott Mudler across the plate.

Texas is always capable of coming from behind, so Jared Thompson got a two-run homer in the top of the eighth. In the bottom, Michael Snyder got on base for OU, and promptly stole second, then third. After Mackenzie walked, the home squad had runners at both corners. Then, some drama: Snyder stole home, Mackenzie beat the throw to second and the final score was reached, 9-4.

A week ago, the Sooners contributed the baseball woes of the Brigham Young Cougars.

In a trio or road games, Bryce Madron played so well he garnered the Big 12 co-player of the week honors.

The Sooners swept series in Provo -- 10-8 on Friday , 12-6 on Saturday , and 10-7 on Sunday .

The Sooners remain atop the Big 12 at 15-4 with a .789 percentage in-conference.

    Overall OU stands at 26-15.

    Oklahoma State is close behind, at .667 (that’s 14-7in-conference) and 30- 14 overall (.650).

The West Virginia Mountaineers are in third, while the Longhorns are in fourth.

The Phillips 66 Big 12 baseball championship is straight south in Arlington, Texas from May 21-May 25 , followed by Regionals May 31-June 3 , Super-Regionals June 7-19 and the College World Series at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.
