OZARK, Mo. — A Nixa man has changed his plea to guilty for holding a hatchet to his mother’s head on New Year’s Day in 2023.

According to online court documents, 34-year-old Simon Scholz pleaded guilty under a plea agreement on April 26.

Under the agreement, Scholz pleaded guilty and will be sentenced for unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree kidnapping.

Scholz is due back in court on June 26 for sentencing.

A probable cause statement showed the Nixa Police Department arrived to find Scholz on top of the victim in a bed, holding a hatchet to her head. Scholz complied with officers’ orders to release the hatchet and get off the victim.

Scholz also told police that aliens had taken the victim and he was going to have to kill her. Scholz had also told law enforcement he had taken heroin, meth and PCP in a separate police call earlier that night.
