Ace Hardware acquires local franchise Bishop Ace across central Illinois
Three Sangamon County Ace hardware stores are being bought out by Ace Hardware Retail from the longtime local owners, Lucy Stafford and George Preckwinkle. On May 9, a division of the Ace Hardware corporation announced the agreement to acquire Bishop Ace Hardware, a local 13-store chain in central Illinois which partnered with Ace in 1960.
Demuzio appointed as Ward 1 Alderman; Eagle Scouts Recognized at May Council meeting
The Carlinville City Council met for its first meeting of May on Mon., May 6. There were only 7 aldermen for most of the meeting, but the new alderman for Ward 1 was sworn in during the latter half of the meeting. Besides swearing in a new alderman, the council recognized two Eagle Scouts and approved bids for projects.

Carlinville High School Prom held May 4
Carlinville High School hosted their Prom on Sat., May 4. Carlinville students and their dates spent all day preparing for the Promenade and Prom hosted that evening at the Carlinville High School. Several prominent locations throughout town, such as the Macoupin County Courthouse, were busy with prom-goers and their families taking pictures before the events.
