Traffic Alert: Road closures this week around the Valley

(WKBN) — The weather is warming, and we all know what it brings besides the bloom of flowers: road work.

Below is a list of roadwork around the Valley beginning Monday.

Boardman

Western Reserve Road will be closed at the Market Street intersection for approximately three weeks. The closure allows for construction crews to relocate a fiber optic bank and install a cross culvert.

Howland Township

The westbound right lane of East Market Street between Shaffer Drive and Clifton Avenue will be closed until May 8. The closure is due to emergency culvert repair. Traffic will be maintained but delays are expected.

Niles

The following routes will have various lane restrictions for resurfacing: state Route 46 between Robbins Avenue and Niles Vienna Road; and state Route 169 between state Route 46 to just west of US 422.

Work is expected to be completed by late August.

Vernon Township

State Route 5 will be closed just north of Bushnell Campbell Road until late May for a bridge replacement project. Drivers should take the detour from state Route 88 to state Route 7.

Youngstown

West Federal Street between Market Street and Phelps Street will be closed through Aug. 1.

Market Street southbound traffic at Federal Street will be closed for approximately two weeks.

The intersection of Phelps and West Federal Street as well as Market and West Federal Street may experience short-term closures as work progresses.

These closures are all part of the continuing progress of the SMART2 Roadway Project.

The ramp from Homewood Avenue to Interstate 680 northbound will be closed between 7 a.m. through 5 p.m. for pavement repairs. The detour will be Indianola Avenue, to Poland Avenue, to Powersdale Avenue to I-680.
