Vehicle on fire following accident with injuries on U.S. 41 in Gibson County

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Crews are responding to an accident on U.S. 41 in Gibson County.

According to dispatch, the northbound lane of U.S. 41 is closed just north of I-64. According to Gibson County Sheriff Bruce Vanoven, the accident was reported just before 3 p.m..

A media release says a maroon 2014 Chevy Cruz rear ended a blue 2016 Ford Fusion was was stopped in traffic. As a result of the collision, the Chevy Cruz caught fire. Deputies at the scene removed people inside the vehicles.

Deputies at the scene say one of the drivers was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Deputies began CPR, which they say saved the driver until Gibson County medics could take over treatment.

Officials say multiple serious injuries were reported in the incident.
