    17K+ Ohio kids reported missing in 2023

    DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — In 2023, nearly 4,000 local children were reported missing.

    Across Ohio, 17,405 reports were made regarding missing children, according to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost. Although a majority of the children reported missing were found by Dec. 31, 2023, 372 were not located.

    The Miami Valley alone saw 3,801 reports of children going missing last year.

    The updated statistics show reports of missing children jumped nearly 2,000 across Ohio. Locally, there were 656 more children reported missing in 2023 compared to 2022.

    Franklin County ranked first in the state with 3,252 missing child cases, followed by Cuyahoga County with 2,959 cases. Montgomery County ranked third place, followed by Hamilton County with 1,419 cases.
