Paul Pierce Gets Roasted by Fans Over Hot Take on Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving

We're all prone to getting off a hot take now and then.

Whether it's something you believe or something that you want to put out into the ether in order to gain some attention and notoriety, there's a place in the sports media landscape for hot takes in our day and age.

This latest one from former Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce might be a bit too hot, though.

Following the Dallas Mavericks' Game 1 win in the Western Conference Finals against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Pierce went on Undisputed and let one fly, saying that he is of the opinion that Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are the best offensive duo in the history of the NBA.

Yes, you read that right.

"I'm going to take it a step further, Skip. I said this a month ago on this show, I think this is the best offensive duo — not backcourt — but offensive duo in NBA history," Pierce said. "You've got two guys capable of really going off for 60 points."

Pierce goes on to mention duos like James Harden and Russell Westbrook, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal, arguing that the Mavericks duo is superior, but he conveniently omits the era of basketball that these two play in, where scoring is up at a massive rate. He also conveniently left out arguably the best offensive duo in recent memory — Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

It wasn't difficult to find fans who disagreed with Pierce online.
