BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) — It’s time to break out the sunscreen, fishing poles, Spikeball nets and some refreshing drinks! Parks across Broome County are officially opening for the season this Memorial Day weekend.
You may be thinking that the parks are open year round. While that is correct, Memorial Day weekend marks the availability of boating, swimming and camping on park grounds until Labor Day. Broome County parks will be open from 8 a.m. to dusk every single day, so make your plans!
There are plenty of events to plan for, such as Broome Bands Together, Movies in the Park, the Broome County Triathlon, the 5k series, Beach Bash, and Spiedie Fest.
As far as boating, swimming and camping are concerned, boat rentals will be available as long as the beach is open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Please not that the last rental out will be at 6:30 p.m. Concessions will be avaiable at Nathaniel Cole and Greenwood seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Camping is available every day as well at $28 per night plus a $5 reservation fee.
You can even rent a pavilion for $30 on a weekday or for $100 on the weekends and holidays plus a $5 reservation fee.
