HARRISON TWP. (WWJ) — If you hear a high amount of sirens in eastern Macomb County Wednesday afternoon, don’t be alarmed — it’s all part of a training exercise.

An emergency response exercise is scheduled to take place at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township Wednesday.

Officials with the base say those in the area may hear sirens, emergency broadcasts and/or simulated gunfire.

“These routine training exercises ensure we remain prepared to respond to a wide range of scenarios,” a release from Selfridge said.

Exact timing of Wednesday’s emergency response exercise wasn’t disclosed, though officials said in a video posted to the 127th Wing Facebook page last Saturday they “will be conducting training missions later than usual over the next week.”

“During this time, neighbors in our vicinity may hear runway activity in the middle of the night,” the video said.

Selfridge Air National Guard Base, located near Hall Road and I-94, frequently conducts these types of exercises.
